The final count for the fullpower Melges 24 2007 World Championship is 60 boats representing six countries.  With an excellent showing and the challenging conditions of the Monterey Bay, this year’s Worlds promises to be the most exciting yet.

The organizers at SCYC have been working hard to make this a fun and memorable experience for all, with lively post-race social events and many on-site conveniences. Please take a moment to read the following important information carefully.

Hospitality

Race Lunches are available from Erik’s DeliCafé. Lunches will be delivered each morning before 10am, labeled individually and packed in Ziplock bags ready for your cooler.  An order form with menu, pricing and instructions for pre-ordering race lunches is available for download here (pdf).  

Post-race social events Each skipper will receive free event passes for the skipper and crew for all food that's served as well as a limited number of complimentary drink tickets.  The yacht club offers a full-service bar located in the clubhouse.  In addition, drink tickets may be purchased in $1.00 increments for use at the portable bar in the competitor’s area.  Guest passes for food, which includes hors d’ouevres nightly and dinner on 3 nights, will be available for purchase at $60 in advance or $70 at the door.  Advance orders to be paid for at registration.  To view social event calendar go to the events page. Java Junction will offer gourmet coffee and continental breakfast items for sale in the competitor’s area each morning. 

Crystal Springs bottled water will be available for purchase for $1.00/bottle or $15/case of 24.

Local Resources – While you’re here, be sure to sample the local Santa Cruz scene.  Check out the Local Resources page on the event website.  You’ll also find information on restaurants and entertainment in the Event Program in your skippers’ bags, which you will receive at registration.

HI TECH SERVICES

Stagecoach Wireless & MagicWave Systems will provide an Internet café in the competitors area, completely equipped with networked computers, free of charge. Complimentary public wireless Internet access covering the main event area, wireless Internet access on the Race Committee boat and dedicated Internet access in the offices for regatta officials will also be available.

North Sails has partnered with Sailing Weather Services to provide FREE weather forecasts for the fullpower Melges 24 World Championship from May 8-12. Boat / Trailer Storage

Storage will be available beginning on April 17th.  The fee is $50.  (Storage is free for those participating in the SCYC Melges 24 Spring Series).  Please email John Buchanan at with your arrival date.  Fee is payable at on-site registration, beginning May 1st.  Click here for a map of temporary boat parking( pdf) .

Yacht Shipping & Delivery

Latis Yachting Solutions is already preparing to provide top-notch logistical services for the 2007 Melges 24 World Chapionships in Santa Cruz, California this May. As with any other melges 24 event, Latis will be providing transport from anywhere in North America including any major shipping port for International Boats. We have also reserved a secure storage lot just minutes from Santa Cruz harbor.
